Who Are We

Knottery & Co. crafts silk ties and fine accessories for the modern classic—timeless style, sustainable materials, and meticulous craftsmanship. From material selection to hand-stitched details, every step honors master craftsmanship, creating accessories that carry character and elevate confidence—at work, at an event, or as a cherished gift.

Working with artisans who preserve heritage techniques—including traditional tie-making methods—the brand ensures each piece carries both style and story. Sustainability is woven into every stage: mindfully sourced silk, deadstock fabric reuse, plastic-free packaging, and OEKO-TEX® certified dyes.

Beyond its core collection, Knottery & Co. partners with institutions to create custom pieces that commemorate milestones. Collaborations include NYU, The St. Regis, the Chicago Yacht Club, and Service Academy Women for the 50th anniversary of women's admission to the five U.S. military service academies.

THE ART OF SILK TIE MAKING

A Ten-Step Journey of Material, Precision & Quiet Excellence

At Knottery & Co., a silk tie is not merely produced — it is cultivated.
Crafted through ten deliberate stages, each guided by touch, intuition, and time,
every tie becomes an object of quiet refinement.

1

Selecting the Silk

We make things that work better and last longer. Our products solve real problems with clean design and honest materials.

2

The 45° Bias Cut

The fabric is cut at a precise 45-degree bias, a technique that allows the silk to drape, swing, and return to form with graceful ease. This subtle angle is what gives a tie its movement — a quiet elegance visible even from across the room.

3

Three-Piece Construction

A Knottery & Co. tie is built from three carefully shaped components: the blade, the neck, and the tail. This classic architecture preserves proportion, balance, and the refined silhouette that defines a premium tie.

4

Tailored Interlining

Every silk has a temperament; every interlining, a purpose. We match them with intention: lighter linings for heavier silks, firmer linings for soft or fluid fabrics. This harmony of weight creates the ideal knot and ensures longevity.

5

Hand Folding & Natural Rolling

Rather than forcing the fabric into rigidity, our artisans guide the silk to fold as it wishes. This natural rolling preserves the tie’s softness and creates the signature dimensional feel of a handmade piece.

6

Hand Stitching with a Floating Thread

Within every Knottery & Co. tie runs a single floating thread, meticulously hand-stitched from end to end. It allows the tie to relax between wears, recover its structure, and age with quiet dignity — a hallmark of true craftsmanship.

7

The Knot of Joy

At the midpoint, each tie receives "The Knot of Joy". A stabilizing hand-craft detail, it brings calm structure, subtle resilience, and symbolic blessing. It helps the tie rest naturally against the body, offering harmony not just in form, but in spirit.

8

Refined Edge Finishing

Edges are pressed softly, never flattened, allowing the silk to retain its body. Hand-sewn bar tacks anchor the structure while preserving suppleness. This balance — strength without stiffness — defines luxury tailoring.

9

Label Placement

The label is stitched with precision and restraint: only where necessary, never more. A small, elegant signature that completes the tie’s identity without interrupting its flow.

10

Final Inspection

Every tie undergoes a final, unhurried review. Proportion, alignment, curve, tension, finishing — each detail must meet our standard of calm perfection.
Only then does a tie earn the name Knottery & Co.
